Carbon-Neutral Panties: Green Fashion

August 23, 2008

MAS Holdings in Sri Lanka has created the first custom-built eco-factory for manufacturing lingerie. You heard us correctly, eco panties. Thank goodness we can finally start wearing underwear again. Oops! Did we write that out loud?

Most people think of manufacturing facilities overseas as sweat shops employing sad little children, not so with MAS Holdings. A transformative manufacturing facility, they have formed strategic partnerships...

What's mine is Your's

Buy and swap designer, vintage and fashionable clothing at whatsmineisyours.com

Ever get fully bummed out to realize you no longer fit into (or the piece no longer fits your style) one of your favorite pieces of clothing? Adding salt to the wound, it was an expensive piece of clothing, and simply donating it feels like a waste of the hard-earned cash you saved to purchase it in the first place. Selling it to most used clothing stores will...

July 14, 2008

sew your own clothes Did you hear? Sewing isn’t just for 4-Hers anymore. This back to the roots activity is taking hold in the biggest and smallest cities around the U.S. of A. Even if you’re not a reality show contender, you too can turn a bolt of material (purchased, or found on your mom’s dining room table) into a unique addition to your wardrobe, wall or anywhere fabric makes things fabulous.

organic cotton chic from H&M
If you’re a budget-minded clotheshorse (and who here isn’t?), prepare for cheap organic cotton bliss. Organic cotton made its debut at H&M this spring (now used in all departments), and the coming autumn marks H&M’s environmental

Tony Perotti Green Collection: Green Fashion

May 16, 2008

Tony Perotti Green Collection Handbag There are two things that we, at The Budget Ecoist, are willing to splurge on:

1) Really solid, well-made, basic shoes. Why? Because our tootsies matter to us! We like being able to walk and we intend to keep doing it when we are sassy, 90-something Eco Fashionistas! Our slogan...as long as they're not going out of style anytime soon, shoes are an investment. Not quite like a 401K, but sort-of.

2) A nice, basic purse. Again you ask,...

Organic Super Sash Skirt: Organic Fashion

January 8, 2008

organic super sash skirt

Usually when I hear about a clothing item that can serve multiple purposes, I’m not impressed—a rectangular piece of fabric does not count as a tie skirt/sari wrap/clever headpiece all in one. It just doesn’t, no matter how hard we want to believe.

But then, this little dress (or is it a skirt?) stepped into my life . . . what I love:

* 96% organic cotton and 4% lycra (just enough for that lovely, stretchy goodness)

*

One Good Boot: Organic Products

January 4, 2008

vegan go-go boot

Every woman needs at least one good boot (well, preferably two, one in black and another in brown…).

Knee high boots look great with skirts of any length, which means they go well from one season to the next. They also look great with a skinny jean paired with an oversized sweater, and knee-high boots lengthen the leg so they look good on almost any body type. But what to wear if you’re committed to organic fashion? Try this $55 brown
