The Poop: Recycle This
There’s been a lot of talk about the dangers of plastic and dog poop lately, but most pet owners may not realize they are contributing to an environmental situation that is more wide-spread than a power-line destroying art installation.
Just leaving the dog pooh behind after your walk around the block is not acceptable, and sometimes illegal. Rather than go to jail for tacky behavior, (most) dog owners scoop that poop with zillions of plastic bags every year. Okay, perhaps zillions is an exaggeration, but National Geographic reports, “…between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year.” And about 1-3% of those bags wind up outside of the landfill system, strangling fish and waterfowl alike.

Personally, I use all those little bags that seem to come into the house uninvited. You know, the catalogue that comes in a plastic wrapper, the newspaper whose magazine section in wrapped in plastic, some post comes in a plastic bag envelope. Surely using these bags is OK?
I heard around the internet that these, when put into a landfill, don’t actually break down the way there are supposed to… :/
