Green Bikini
If you snagged your swimsuit in early May and have been faithfully sunning yourself ever since, please accept our congratulations on your admirable dedication to seasonal shopping. If you’re like us, you only just realized that March is over and it’s time to stash the wool sweaters. This post is dedicated to those who fall into the second category (and, presumably, still need a bathing suit). Therefore: here are the promised eco-friendly suits - just in time for the Fourth of July and all those barbeques. (But don’t flip burgers over a flaming grill wearing only a bikini. Just sayin’.)
Anna Cohen Teal Triangle Bikini (pictured above): Svelte vixens such as yourself will look dashing in this stunning suit. Using leftover fabric from Olympic speed skater uniforms, this bikini is rendered in one of the most beautiful shades of turquoise known to man or nature.
Aaron Chang Triangle One-Piece: Made from 100 percent repurposed plastic bottles, the material of this suit repels water just as well as the more traditional polyester. Aaron Chang also designed a line of super flattering bikinis in nature-inspired prints for Urban Outfitters this summer. (But don’t bother checking the web site – the suits aren’t up yet.)
Tropi-Ties Butterfly Bikini: Fashioned from the veritable trifecta of eco-friendly fabric – hemp, cotton, and bamboo – this suit is one big renewable resource. (The cotton doesn’t appear to be organic, so it might be a judgment call over which is better – cotton or the more usual swimsuit polyester.) Either way, we really like the bamboo ring detail.
