20 Mule Team Borax: Win This

Paige first heard about 20 Mule Team Borax from a fellow ecoist, so she was jumping for joy when she had the opportunity to review the product. Why was Paige so enticed by 20 Mule Team Borax? This product has been around since 1891, and Paige is a big believer in all things "throwback," especially when it comes to cleaning. Call her old-fashioned, but generally cleaning products weren't as toxic back in the day...
Borax has a plethora of uses, many of which Paige tested over the last several weeks, all to flying colors. The most basic is to use it as a laundry booster. Add 1/2 cup to each washload (put it in with the clothes) along with the recommended amount of detergent. Helps to remove soils and stains, brightens clothes and freshens laundry. It also works as a fabric softener, replacing the need for that dryer sheet. Other uses for 20 Mule Team Borax include:
* Diapers and baby clothes get a cleaning boost when soaked and washed with 20 Mule Team Borax. Helps get rid of odors, reduces staining and makes diapers more absorbent.
* Wash your delicates by dissolving 1/4 cup Borax and one to two tablespoons detergent in a basin of warm water and soaking them for ten minutes.
* Fine China shines brilliantly when rinsed in a solution of 1/2 cup Borax in a sinkful of warm water.
* Borax works great for cleaning and deodorizing refrigerators as well as garbage pails.
* Your shower, tub, tile and toilet bowl will sparkle when washed with Borax and warm water. Toilet bowl brushes can benefit from an occasional Borax soak as well.
* Clean out your humidifier and keep the water in it free of odor.
* Neutralize odors from stains on your carpets and mattresses.
Borax even has uses for arts and crafts projects!

Gotta Love Borax!
I’ve been trying to be much more eco friendly in my cleaning. I’d love to give it a try. I’ve seen some great recipes for making your own natural laundry detergent with borax too!
I love 2o mule team Borax. I find my linens & clothes are MUCH cleaner when using this.
I love the ideas for using Borax and the link to more. Now I will definitely have to try it!
I have started using green cleaners just last week. I prefer to make my own and Borax is great. I was told that mixing 1 part Borax and 1 part Washing Soda makes a good washing detergent and dishwashing machine soap. It has worked great so far. It’s also a great water softener.
I love this stuff. I just started using it and am discovering all the things you can do with it. Good Stuff
I just have to say, I really enjoy your tips on all things green. I also LOVE borax, it has saved more than a few articles of clothing that I thought I had stained beyond repair. Thanks for the great tips!
I’ve never tried this, but do like Bon Ami. I bet this stuff is just as good!
I’d LOVE to win a box of this! Thanks for the giveaway :)
I love Borax! I mix it with salt and baking soda and use it to scrub anything - it doubles as dishwasher detergent too!
It also gets the funky smell out of laundry that sat in the washer too long.
I love Borax. I use it to make an all-purpose cleaner by mixing it with washing soda and Dr. Bronner’s lavender castille soap. It’s powerful, cheap, great smelling and makes me want to clean my house more.
I love Borax. I make a scented scouring powder by adding essential oil. Sweet orange, eucalyptus lemon, peppermint - whatever scent you want. Just keep in a shaker and use when needed. Cover the holes when not in use so you don’t lose the essential oils.

I’m so glad you sent a message to your Fashionista list about this new blog, and in time for the give away. I’m a Borax fan too and would love a free box.
20 Mule Team Borax is great stuff! I have been using it for years for laundry and general cleaning.
I’m so glad you are doing articles about “retro” cleaners. I have recently rediscovered the miracles of baking soda so I’m thrilled to be able to add another cleaner to my repertoire. Don’t get me wrong I love all the eco-friendly cleaners out there but sometimes the good old days were really better.
I have used 20-mule team Borax since before Ronny Reagan did the TV series for everything from diapers to soil amendments, bug prevention to walls...I have never had a problem with it. I have been treated over the years as everything from silly to demented for being ‘too old fashioned” and I now feel quite vindicated. It whitens, removes vile odors from wood to wool and it simply comes out of the ground in the Mojave Valley.
I have been to the site. Some find it a bit desolate but it is quite beautiful at sunrise or sunset. The colors are amazing. It is wise to keep things simple. It does less harm that way, I think.
I have never used Borax. I would like to try it.
